Cook Class

I am the class teacher for Reception and our Learning Support Assistants are Mrs Wheeler and Mrs Levitt.

We started the term in January finding out about houses and homes. This included a walk in the local area to look at the different house styles. We also decided on the furniture that we would like to have in the different rooms. We continued the term with our topic of Traditional Tales and the children enjoyed all the eating activities. They tried porridge for The 3 Bear’s, beans on toast for Jack and the Beanstalk and sausages for The 3 Little Pigs.

After half term our topic of Traditions and Cultures included finding out about life styles in other countries, Chinese New Year and the four Saint’s days that we celebrate. All of which included food from the different countries.

The highlight of finding out about the meaning of Easter was watching our chicks hatch.  We also joined in the school Sports Relief Mile by walking seven times around the field.

This Half-Term’s Topics…

This half term we are finding out Mini Beasts and our role play area is now a Bug House. We have our caterpillars in our classroom and we will watch over the next few weeks as they change into beautiful butterflies.

Activities for our Mini Beasts topic will include looking at the environment and a mini beast hunt around the school. The children will design and make a mini beast model using the tools.

Over this term we will be learning about caring for a pet, discovering different types of animals, for example Wild animals and farm animals. We will complete this term with our School Trip to visit a Farm.

The last few weeks will be finding out about going on a Holiday and we will have a special day when we go on a holiday and have lots of fun.
