Armstrong Class Summer Term
Armstrong class are busy learning all about Yateley and local landmarks and the importance of our community. We will then travel across the continents to find out about a similar sized town all the way in India. We will be finding out how far away it is and how we would get there the similarities and differences of our lives and theirs.
We have started our literacy unit and are looking at Traditional Tales, in particular, Jack and the Beanstalk. Mrs Lees had a beanstalk grow in her garden! The children recorded lots and lots of questions for her. We are really enjoying learning about traditional tales and how we can mix them up and write our own endings.
We have also started germinating our own bean seeds and will plant them and look after them.
Once our traditional tales are done we will start to create a poem all about Yateley and what it means to us. The children are also busy designing a decorative clay tile of things connected to Yateley.
After the half term we will begin to look at our new topic Nurturing Nurses. We will learn about Florence Nightingale, Mary Seacole and Edith Cavell and how they helped nurses become what they are today. Our heroes in these strange times!
We will also be looking at the minibeast that are in our environment, where they live and how they survive. Lots of bug traps and observations to be done!
