Year 4 - Carter

Welcome back to the the Summer Term, we hope you had a lovely Easter Break.

Last half term was another very busy one. We brought all our previous learning about Anglo Saxons and Vikings together in a workshop experience where we created a play in a day! Here are some photos below

During Book Week, we also learnt all about plastic and the dangers of it in our modern world based on the book by Neal Layton – A planet full of plastic. We performed a brilliant class assembly to teach the whole school all about what we had learnt.

During Design technology, we created our own Anglo Saxon Brooches and sewed them using different types of stitches. Some of us were very brave and tried running stitch, back stitch and cross stitch to create them!

We have another busy half-term again. We have a lot to fit in to just a few short weeks! We are going on our residential trip to Minstead Study Centre in the first week back.

In English, we are going to be reading the book Weslandia and in our destination reading sessions, we will be finishing our work on The Highland Falcon Thief.

We are also going to be learning all about solids, liquids and gases in Science as well as biomes in Geography.

Here is our Topic Web for the upcoming term and some suggested ideas for family learning which will enhance your child’s learning at school. Don’t forget to keep aiming for those Rocket Reads and practicing times tables whenever you can!

Thank you again for all your support so far.
