Year 5 - Columbus

Welcome back to the final half term in Year 5. We cannot believe we are entering the last few weeks of the Summer Term. This past half term has gone as quick as a flash!

At Wellington College, we were lucky enough to try out their Low Ropes course – which was lots of fun! It required very good balance all round and lots of team work. The following week, we went back to Wellington to do canoeing! We even got Miss Singer and Mrs Rees on the boats with us!

In the middle of May, we were all lucky enough to go to Runways End residential – where we learned lots of new skills like archery, air rifle shooting, raft building and canoeing. We did lots of team building activities and build our resilience, listening skills and cooperation as well as lots more!

This term will be another busy one – with district sports, sports day, the Summer Arts Festival and our Year 5 /6 production! We have already started practising the songs and can’t wait to perform to an audience at Yateley School in July.

We will also be continuing our learning – reading the End of the Explorer, writing a newspaper article about the sinking of the Titanic based on our book Kaspar Prince of Cats by Michael Morpurgo. See below for more details of our learning for the final term.

We know that the children will be excited to meet their Year 6 teacher during Meet the Teacher in July and we have no doubt she will be very impressed to see our independence and hard work ethic!

Then we can have a lovely relaxing Summer Break before entering our final year at Cranfrord Park.
