Year 5 - Columbus

Another half term done and dusted in year 5 - one more to go! We have had a great time learning more about the Ancient Greeks, and finishing our unit on The Whale.  The children produced some great writing in this unit and we really enjoyed debating about hoaxes! We also dove into Balinese music and learning about and creating the kecak chant.

Our main highlight this half term was our residential. We had such a great time together over a few days, exploring new opportunities like caving, climbing, archery and canoeing, as well as building our resilience staying away from home. We learnt a lot about ourselves, strengths and weaknesses, and also developed our teamwork skills.

This half-term will be our last half term together in year 5. We are going to be learning all about Chocolate and Patterns of Life. We will be looking at where chocolate comes from in Geography, exploring and creating Batik designs in DT and going swimming!

Please see our Patterns of Life topic web and family learning below for more information.
